Hiking in Cyprus

There are around 200km of hiking trails on the island all of which are signposted and even have local shrubs and trees labeled.

One of the main walking areas  is Akamas with it's 79 sq km and wildlife and natural beauty on the far west of of the island.


When you get to Cyprus you should get hold of a copy of the nature trail guide, available from any CTO (Cyprus Tourism Office).


Well marked hiking trails can be found in these areas:

  • Famagusta District: Kavo Greco (6 trails) 
  • Famagusta District: Protaras Area (3 trails)
  • Limassol District: Kyparissia - Germasogeia (3 trails)
  • Nicosia: Athalassa National Forest Park
  • Nicosia District: Pitsylia Area
  • Nicosia/Larnaca Districts: Machairas Forest, Lefkara, Kato Drys, Vavatsinia
  • Nicosia/Limassol Districts: Troodos Area (over 10 trails)
  • Paphos District: Stavros tis Psokas (5 trails)
  • Paphos District: Akamas (5 trails)

Cyprus is quickly becoming a favourite destination for honeymooners and with assured sun from febuary onwards and excellent tempratures its not surprising.

The island of love is the perfect place for a romantic walk along the beach or mountain trail or scuba diving and snorkeling. Then there are the tours, delicious food and wine, stunning sunsets and night swimming through July - August.

Shopping in Cyprus includes purchases of sliks, pottery, silverware, intricate handmade lace, and leather goods. Traditional symbols of Cypriot hospitality are sliver spoons and forks. Jewellery shops are everywhere with delightful works of art which has been part of this island for hundreds of years.

Lefkara lace originating from the village of Lefkara on the Nicosia to Limassol road is one of the most famous Cypriot products. Competitively priced imported goods such as cameras, porcelain, perfume...etc are also available throughout Cyprus
