Paphos (Pafos)

Paphos is a popular base for many tourists. Once the capital of the entire island, Paphos retains some of the splendour of its Roman heritage, together with the hotels and villas that would be expected of a modern tourist resort.

Coral Bay

Coral Bay is a relatively new holiday resort in Cyprus, just a 15 minute drive in your hire car from Paphos and close to the Akamas National parkland. This Cypriot resort has grown around the famous Coral Bay Beach which has one of the longest and finest stretches of golden sand and is the most popular beach on the west coast of Cyprus. As its name would suggest its surrounded by rugged headland, creating a sheltered environment that is ideal for a family holiday. The nightlife here is also more laidback than Paphos but there is sufficient choice of restaurants bars and hotels.

Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa is one resort that many visitors have heard of. The centre of the island as far as music lovers are concerned, the resort itself has expanded from the original settlement, which was quiet and unassuming.

Protaras

If you want to stay away from the hectic nightlife of Ayia Napa, then Protaras has a more relaxed feel and is better suited to a family holiday.

Polis and Latchi

Polis is a little village 37 km north of Pafos. Tourism is still in its early stages. The village centre has a small pedestrian area with shops and restaurants and tavernas. In the tourist area, Latchi, west of Polis, one can find outstanding fish taverns and a few hotels, apartments and villas.

Akamas

The Akamas peninsula is very popular for hiking and in some areas only drivable by four-wheel drive vehicles. The coast has a breath-taking beauty and at the Bath of Aphrodite according to legend, Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty, took her bath in the grotto overshadowed by an old fig tree.

Pissouri

The beautiful beach at Pissouri Bay lies between white cliffs and offers the best opportunities for swimming, snorkelling and water sports. Three kilometres uphill, one can find this picturesque Pissouri village itself, Both the bay and the village offer a large choice of restaurants and bars, perfect for a family holiday.

Limassol (Lemesos)

Limassol, located on the island's south coast, is another popular hub for tourists. It boasts countless modern hotels and developments, though some bemoan its lack of historical sites.

Larnaca

Larnaca has probably the most beautiful promenade in Cyprus. The city was built on the ancient city of Kition. Over the years three interesting archaeological districts were found and many antique pieces have gone to the archaeological museum. Worth seeing are the Ayios Lazaros church and the Aquaduct.
